Business Plan Development
The development of business, strategic and product plans constitutes a major portion of PrintCom's activity. This work often involves the technical/economic evaluation of marketing, printing processes and technology trends. Planning activities which are conducted for printers and publishers as well as suppliers include the development of short term, often remedial action plans to solve a specific crisis problem, as well as long term strategic planning with detailed tactical action plans and follow-up implementation support.
Business development projects conducted for both printers and suppliers have included the identification and evaluation of new market opportunities, new product evaluations, diversification studies, acquisitions, and divestitures. PrintCom has organized or participated in the due diligence analysis associated with acquisition work.
Surveys
Marketing work conducted by the Group has ranged from the development of product oriented marketing strategy and the conduct of surveys to the analysis of sales plans and the assessment of sales potentials by territories. PrintCom has expertise in the development and conduct of surveys designed to probe marketplace conditions and potential.
Some surveys are conducted by mail while others may be done by telephone, faxback, over-the-Internet, in person or through the use of focus groups. By using personnel experienced in the graphic arts to interview industry individuals known to be particularly knowledgeable in specific areas of interest, PrintCom has a unique capability to obtain information and insight into industry trends and developments.
PrintCom has developed a particular skill and reputation for conducting probing in-depth discussion interviews. This in-depth print analysis data gathering is offered to clients as a stand-alone service to supplement their own information gathering and analysis work and it is utilized as an integral part of total business planning and marketing research activities conducted by PrintCom.
Benchmark Audits
The PrintCom organization conducts in-depth Benchmark Audits for all segments of the print industry. A full PrintCom Benchmark Audit encompasses a total review of a company's operations including administration, marketing, sales, and printing production from the creation of material through all phases of manufacturing including mailing and distribution. The results of a PrintCom Benchmark Audit are used to develop quality and productivity improvement programs as well as to provide data for the strength and weakness analysis of business planning programs.
Equipment suppliers to the printing industry have utilized the PrintCom organization to create new product functional specifications, to review product performance concepts, to field test new product ideas, to validate product performance parameters, and to monitor technology developments. Evaluations of competitive products and the conduct of features analysis have been provided by PrintCom to both equipment and materials suppliers.
Other Services
The PrintCom Consulting Group provides assistance to companies in the development of overall marketing strategies and the tactical action plans necessary to implement those strategies. PrintCom has the capability to provide marketing support services such as the conduct of seminars and the preparation of advertising, press releases, promotional materials and assistance with trade exhibits.
The PrintCom Group also conducts multi-client market and technology studies for industry associations and private groups. The Group's expertise is utilized by attorneys in preparing graphic arts related cases with PrintCom personnel serving as expert witnesses.
