About Us
Founded in New Jersey in 1982 through a predecessor organization, PrintCom relocated its operations in 1988 to the Charlotte, North Carolina suburb of Waxhaw, which is located about forty-five minutes southeast of the Douglas International Airport. In addition to PrintCom principal, William C. Lamparter, three full time marketing oriented personnel and a part time technical specialist are located in this office. Additional clerical and telephone interviewing personnel are on call for utilization in this office in accordance with project requirements. A comprehensive graphic arts library and data file are maintained in this office.
In addition to its direct staff, the PrintCom organization includes a group of 15 senior level consulting associates who are utilized on a regular basis to create project teams for specific client programs. This staff is supplemented by a group of technical and business specialists that provide in-depth and highly specialized knowledge on a more occasional basis. This structure enables PrintCom to create cost-effective project teams that offer a unique in-depth blend of the specific expertise required to professionally execute assignments in almost any aspect or segment of the printing, publishing, and its related supply industries.
Through the combination of senior level contract consulting associates and full time staff personnel under the direction of Mr. Lamparter, PrintCom offers the printing, publishing and related equipment and supply industries a management, business and technical consulting and research resource second to none. Group expertise spans the full range of processes, functions and most market segments.

William C. Lamparter, President and Principal of the PrintCom Consulting Group
As president and principal of the PrintCom Consulting Group, William C. Lamparter is responsible for the structuring, conduct and supervision of all assignments undertaken by the company. Mr. Lamparter who is well known worldwide as a printing industry consultant, authority and spokesman has more than thirty years of diversified experience in the graphic communications industries. His experience includes the operation of printing and reproduction facilities, senior management responsibility with major industry suppliers, research and consulting activities and employment as an industry trade association executive.
Mr. Lamparter has a B.S. with majors in General Science and Education from Springfield College (Mass.) and an M.S. in Journalism with major sequences in Advertising and Marketing from Boston University.
Following his graduation from college, Mr. Lamparter was employed by the General Electric Company for ten years in graphic arts and publishing related positions including the management of printing plants, photographic laboratories, and related reproduction facilities. He also had major responsibility for the purchasing of creative services and printed products.
He was employed by the Battelle Research Institute, Columbus, Ohio, as a graphic arts economist progressing in positions of increasing responsibility to become the manager of the Institute's Paper, Packaging, Graphics and Communications Economics Division. While at Battelle, he conducted pioneering research in the fields of composition and new imaging technology. He was also the project manager and principal researcher of a landmark study conducted for Miehle-Goss-Dexter --- "A Forecast of Long Term Business and Technological Trends in the Graphic Arts" covering the time period from the early 1970's to 1990. This study later became the basis for the GraphComm and International Comprint programs which at the time of their initiation represented a pioneering and unique industry approach analyzing trends which would impact on the printing community.
Mr. Lamparter has served in senior management positions with the MGD Graphic Systems Division of Rockwell International and the Mead Corporation. At Rockwell, his assignments included Vice President of Business Planning for the Goss Division which included newspaper and commercial web equipment, Vice President and General Manager of the Miehle Division specializing in sheetfed equipment, and Vice President and General Manager of the Dexter Division which was the company's bindery products organization. At Mead he was responsible for the development and commercialization of ink jet imaging technology.
He served as President of the National Association of Printing Leadership and while in that position established a variety of new Association services including the creation and development of the highly regarded "Quarterly Business Indicator Report". While at NAPL he initiated a series of programs and activities designed to bring computerization and modern management techniques to the industry. He is a member of the Association's non-resident consulting staff.
Mr. Lamparter left NAPL early in 1982 to create a marketing and business development organization which was the predecessor of the PrintCom Consulting Group.
He is active in a wide range of printing and graphic arts industry groups including several sections of Printing Industries of America, Inc., the National Association of Printing Leadership, the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts and the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation. He is a member of the Executive Committee, Research and Engineering Council of the Graphic Arts Industry, Inc. He is also a founding member of the Association for Graphic Arts Training. He is a member of Xplor International, the World Future Society, the American Society of Quality Control and the Society of Imaging Science and Technology. He serves on the Rochester Institute of Technology's Industry Advisory Committee to the School of Printing Management and Sciences. Lamparter also serves as a member of the Board of Directors, CIMSPrint, the National Center for Printing, Publishing and Imaging established by the Rochester Institute of Technology's Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies.
Mr. Lamparter was elected to membership in the Society of Fellows of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation in November 1999, in recognition of his meritorious service to the graphic communications industries. In May of 1999 he received the Research & Engineering Council of the Graphic Arts Industry's John L. Kronenberg Leadership Award. He is also the recipient of the 1995 National Association of Printing Leadership Technical Leadership Award in recognition of his industry role as a respected authority and consultant on printing and publishing as well as for his pioneering work in both business and technological research.
He is the author of "The Management Guide to Digital Printing" published by the Printing Industries of America, Inc.'s Digital Printing Council.
An active member of the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen for over 25 years, Mr. Lamparter is past president of the Columbus, Ohio, Club. He is a member of Sigma Delta Chi, Professional Journalism Society and was elected to membership in the Soderstrom Society, printing management honorary, and the Institute of Printing, London, England. Lamparter is a former Director of the National Printing Equipment Association. He is published widely in the U.S. and worldwide graphic arts trade press and is listed in Who's Who in America.
